Brazilian energy research company EPE registered 52 natural gas power plant projects, with a combined capacity of 42,719 MW, for the new A-6 energy auction scheduled for September 26th.
In all, EPE registered 1,829 projects for the A-6 auction, a record of energy supply in Brazil above 100 thousand MW. The projects still need to be approved in a qualifying stage, meaning that maybe not all projects will be offered at the auction.
The wind and solar sources were the ones that presented the biggest offers, with 845 and 825 each, respectively. In terms of capacity, we highlight the thermoelectric source with natural gas, with projects over 41GW. Photovoltaic projects exceeded 29 GW installed, while wind farms were just above 25 GW, “informed EPE.
the states of Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte stand out with renewable generation projects. In Bahia there are 516 projects, 298 wind farms and 218 photovoltaic generation. In Rio Grande do Norte, there are 199 wind farms and 129 photovoltaic projects.
The A-6 auction, scheduled for September 26, will contract projects that will be completed in up to six years. By July 29, companies must submit prior environmental licenses and the granting of water resources in the case of hydroelectric plants. On August 5 thermoelectric power plants need to present proof of fuel availability.
